Charles David formed the David Agency in 1917. He had been an off-line trade agent for the Union Pacific Railroad but was displaced when the Federal Government took over all of the railroads during World War I. Charles David took his knowledge of the shipping business and his contacts with various customers who shipped via the Union Pacific and began selling transit insurance through the "David Agency".
David Agency's original office was on the 11th floor of the Baker Building downtown Minneapolis. In 1955 the David Agency acquired land on Grant Street in downtown Minneapolis and constructed a building at 315 East Grant Street. The David Agency has had only five different locations in the 92 years they have been in business.
David Agency has grown steadily, passing through four generations of owners. The current owners are Thomas Devine, Dick Devine and David Psyhos.
David Agency, Inc. today is an Independent Insurance Agency representing many companies. We write coverage with Cincinnati, Travelers, General Casualty, SFM, CNA and many others. We cover businesses for their Property Casualty needs as well as Group Health and Life insurance.
We seek new opportunities and ways of serving our clients for both their business and personal insurance. Keeping abreast of the times, we pride ourselves in also serving the high tech industries as well as colleges and fraternities filling the insurance needs of future generations. Building upon the solid foundation established by Charles David in 1917, we are committed to being here to serve our clients now and in the future.
